When we were designing the garden at Quinton Old Rectory, one of the fundamental elements for Alan was that the garden should reflect his love of roses. So roses take a leading role in the garden here, and ensuring the roses look their best for visitors is one of the things that gardener Fiona Alexander gives her particular focus.
Roses are such an integral part of many English gardens, but it can be tricky to get them to thrive. Our masterclass is designed to help with this. Over the course of the afternoon, Fiona will let us in on how to choose the right rose for the right location, how to plant a rose, growing roses in containers, how she cares for the roses here in Quinton (including the preparation of home-brewed comfrey based rose feed - warning - it smells!) and share advice on deadheading, pruning roses and more.
At the time of the masterclass, we hope that the roses will be in full first flush in the garden, allowing us to take a very practical approach to the masterclass. And after the class has concluded, there’ll be time to explore the garden before rounding off the afternoon with tea and homemade cake.
We’re limiting numbers on the masterclass to just 16, so do get in quickly if you’d like to reserve a space.
A place on our masterclasses is £35, with bookings taken via our sister site Breathe4Good. Please click here to book your space.
