Lammas: Abundance and Thanksgiving

  • Old Rectory Preston Deanery Road Northampton, England, NN7 United Kingdom (map)

Lammas Day, 1 August in our Northern Hemisphere, marks the start of the harvest season with the first harvest, the grain harvest, ripe and ready to reap. It’s a time of celebration and abundance and a time for thanksgiving too as we start to lay down stores to see us through the winter.

We’re planning a special wellbeing event to honour Lammas this year, and are delighted to be welcoming Lexie Wrightson back to the garden to lead our afternoon of celebration and thanksgiving. Those who were with us for Lexie’s heart opening yoga and cacao event back in May will know they’re in for a treat.

We’ll start the afternoon with a gentle, celebratory yoga practice, suitable for all levels of ability and experience, before cooling off in the garden’s natural swimming pond. Lammas is traditionally celebrated by the baking, offering and sharing of bread, so we’re planning a sourdough bread making demonstration (and tasting!) next, giving Lexie the opportunity to brew her pot of ceremonial grade Cacao for us all to enjoy in a special outdoor ceremony, all rounded off with a thanksgiving meditation.

After all that, we’ll conclude the afternoon with a cream tea, including home-baked sourdough scones, homemade jam and plenty of clotted cream

The cost of the event is £25, with numbers limited to 20. Booking is via our sister site, Breathe4Good

The event is supporting the charity Unseen, a charity that supports victims of human trafficking and modern day slavery.

Please bring along a yoga mat, your journal, a blanket and socks for relaxation, swim suit and towel and and extra layer just in case.

This is an outdoor event, so weather dependent. If the weather is inclement on 31 July, we’ll reschedule the event and offer full refunds to anyone who is unable to make the revised date.
