Immune Boosting Retreat Day

The relationship between spending time in nature and physical and mental wellbeing is well documented, so what better place to enjoy our day of self-care aimed at boosting our immune systems ready for our journey into the darker months of the year than the beautiful garden setting here at Quinton Old Rectory.

The day will begin with herbal tea sourced from the garden before a revitalising yoga session to get the day started.  We’ll then experience the Wim Hof method, an active immune boosting practice – first through some vigorous breathing exercises and then, for those that choose to accept the challenge (and it’s an invitation, not an obligation, there will be alternatives for non-swimmers and those that prefer a gentler approach) exposure to the cold water in the form of a plunge into the Old Rectory’s natural swimming pond.

We’ll warm up after that with nourishing brunch boxes prepared by Northampton’s NoNonsense food.  NoNonsense is run by Reece Brookes, a finalist in 2019’s Northamptonshire Chef of the Year and a guru of nutrition packed food.  All brunch boxes will be vegan and can be made gluten free on request.

After brunch, we’ll give you some tips for undertaking a walking meditation if you choose to, as you take some time to wander the gardens, with more herbal tea if you fancy, making the most of the still and quiet to allow yourself to reset.

Next up will be a lesson in self facial and Indian head massage, using oil blended with ingredients from the garden.  You’ll get your own bottle of oil that you can take home with you as a reminder of the day; perhaps continuing with a daily massage routine as an excellent way to calm the mind and bolster the spirit.

As we move towards the end of the retreat, we’ll invite you to settle back and experience some gentle and relaxing breathwork, as you open up to the benefits of coherent breathing.  Then finally, we’ll end the day with a beautifully relaxing and restorative yoga Nidra practice, themed around nature, its immune boosting properties and our intentions to keep well.

The day is co-led by Raj Rajani, an experienced yoga therapist and founder of Yogada Sang, an authentic and enquiring yoga community she is building from scratch, and Emma Wise, a breath coach and food obsessive.  We’ll both be on hand to guide you through each of the experiences during the day, to answer questions and support you when needed.

We’d love you to join us!  We have a strictly limited 20 places available to ensure safe social distancing and to create the intimate retreat feel – so please sign up quickly!
