When we were designing our festival, giving visitors the opportunity to explore their own poetry writing felt like an essential element. We’re therefore very excited to be welcoming Jane Commane to the garden to lead our very first poetry writing workshop.
The hands-on workshop will get you writing from the start. You’ll experiment with language and imagery through a series of writing exercises, led by Jane. You’ll also head out into the gardens for stimulus, before returning to continue your writing.
The workshop will be suitable for more experienced poets, as well as those who are new to writing. People will be able to explore and engage with the exercises at their own level. Participants will leave with draft poems, to take away and work on further.
Jane Commane is a poet and writing tutor, who has led her inspirational workshops along riversides, among orchards and in castles. Her full-length collection, Assembly Lines, was published by Bloodaxe Books. Jane is co-author of How to be a Poet, publisher at Nine Arches Press, and co-editor of Under the Radar magazine.
Please note that the workshop is limited to 16 participants. We encourage you to book early if you would like to join this event.
There’ll be an opportunity for those who wish to do so to share their work at our FREE Poetry Aloud event immediately after the workshop (but absolutely no obligation so please don’t let this put you off!)
Hot drinks and baked goods will be available from Nuts about your Coffee.
Tickets are £40 each. Click here to book yours
